Alistair Walker, Owner & Director

 

Role: Overall responsibility.

Experience: 15 years teaching experience in Greece, Spain, Turkey, New Zealand and the UK.

Speaks: French and Spanish.

Family: Married to Keiko. Son Leon born 2001.

Interests: Travelling, reading, gardening and being a parent.

 

 

Suzie Brierley, Welfare Officer

 

Responsible for: Administration, enquiries and welfare issues.

Experience: Customer care. Has lived in South Africa, Spain and the USA.

Family: Two teenage children.

Loves: Sailing, going to the theatre, socialising and gin and tonic!

 

 

Richard Hamilton, Director of Studies

 

Teaches: General & Business English, exam courses, Teaching Methodology Course.

Specialises in: Grammar, pronunciation, syllabus design.

Experience: Has been teaching since 1999.

Speaks: Russian.

Likes: Gardening, kung-fu, techno, film, history .

Ian Callaway, Teacher & Social Activities Organiser

 

Teaches: General English.

Specialises in: Pronunciation

Studied: Bakery and Confectionery Technology

Speaks: Japanese.

Loves: Windsurfing, roller-hockey, the countryside, cooking and being with his kids.

 

Jonathan Park, Teacher & Junior Centres Academic Coordinator

 

Teaches: General English and Juniors.

Special interest in: Communicative competence.

Background: Has taught English for 15 years. Previously had own school in Taiwan and taught in colleges of Further Education.

Speaks: Chinese.

Interests: Music (Jonathan plays the guitar), chess, reading and exploring places.

 

 

Peggy Read, Teacher

 

Teaches: General and exam classes.

Has worked in: Sudan, Indonesia, Vietnam and New Zealand.

Speaks: Indonesian, French, German, Arabic.

Interests: Environmental issues, psychology, cultural diversity, drinking and dancing.

Also: Peggy is an official IELTS examiner. She is thinking of becoming a bee-keeper!

 

 

Paul Ayres, Teacher & Junior Programmes Coordinator

 

Teaches: General English and Juniors.

Special interest in: Linguistics and European history.

Background: Worked in tourism in the USA, Spain, Greece and West Africa. Taught English in Spain.

Speaks: French, Spanish and German.

Likes: The New Forest and Latin American novels.

 

 

Lori-Ann Yeomans, Teacher & Junior Centres Activities Coordinator

 

Teaches: General English.

Specialises in: Higher-level learners and syllabus design.

Has taught in: Spain and the UK.

Studied: Spanish and Management at Leeds University.

Interests: Travel, snowboarding, clubbing, scuba diving, sky-diving, aerobics, DJ-ing and tae kwon do.

 

 

Sara Thelwell, Teacher

 

Teaches: General English.

Has taught in: Spain, Mexico and Poland.

Studied: Spanish and Latin American Studies.

Loves: Photography, snowboarding, snorkelling and travelling.

 

Abby Turner, Teacher & Junior Centres Activities Coordinator

 

Teaches: General English and FCE.

Work Experience: Eleven years as a professional dancer in Germany, Switzerland, Malaysia and Portugal. Two years teaching English in Portugal.

Likes: Watching football (especially Benfica), good music and having a boogie.

Specialises in: Playing the trumpet (a bit rusty - my playing, not the trumpet) and trying to keep fit at the gym.

 

 

Sharon Miller, Financial & IT Controller

 

Responsible for: All financial issues.

Can help you with: Fees, course changes, letters, booking.

Background: Many years in accountancy firms and financial institutions and other financial management roles.

Interests: Outside pursuits and kayaking.

Also: Sharon studied Physics at university.

 

 

Tom Bradbury, Marketing Communications Manager

 

Responsible for: The website, brochures and other publicity; the computer room.

Has worked here: As a teacher from 1999-2003, and as part of the administration team since 2001.

Background: English Literature and French.

Likes: Music, food, computers and the countryside.

Also: Tom is editor of www.okey-dokey.co.uk, a large, free website for studying English.
