The building should never have been
painted in the first place. This was against the planning rules of
the city. It is a historic building and we believe it was built in
1790.
When the time came to re-decorate,
we wanted to take the building back to its original brick so that
our three buildings would look the same.
We tried to remove the paint with
acid but that would have taken too long. We then tried sand
blasting but the brick was too soft. Our final option then was to
re-paint. We tried to match the brick colour, which is of course
impossible since the original brick has many different shades. The
result is a compromise between the original brick colour and the
beige paint we had before. I rather like it!
