Lewis School Diary - September 2006

September ended with a very special party arranged by our six students from Angola. Leo, Evaristo, Zola, Aleksandra, Mauro and Heraclito have been with us since April and all of them are moving on to study at British universities. The six of them worked very hard preparing Angolan food and music for the party and gave us all a very special farewell, at the end of which they received their Lewis School certificates. Many, many thanks and the best of luck. We are going to miss you terribly!

Ian and Zola are very busy cooks tonight!

Lovely Angolan food and apple strudel too!

What a feast!

We also said goodbye to Man-Kyu and Olga, shown here getting her certificate from Suzie.

Who's next? It's Mauro!

Among our other social activities this month were pub trips, a sea fishing trip and a chance to learn the art of whisky-tasting (and to sample some fine whiskies too!).

September was a quieter month at the school as our summer season ends in August. However, we were delighted to welcome our new Academic Year Programme students, who will be staying with us until June next year. We also hosted junior groups from Italy and Switzerland.

Whisky-tasting. First you smell it...

...then you drink it. Actually, it's more complicated than that.

Finally, September was a special month for Tom, who looks after the school's marketing communications. After much hard work he launched okey-dokey.co.uk - a huge website with more than 2,000 links to help with virtually every aspect of English, from listening and pronunciation practice to grammar, vocabulary, exam preparation and Business English. You will also find games, regular articles and information about British culture. What's more, it's completely free! See for yourself!

Okey-Dokey

Okey-Dokey Online is a partner of the Lewis School of English and if you are wondering what 'okey-dokey' means, it is an informal way of saying 'ok'.
