The Lewis School diary is back again, with more news and photos for you. Below is a picture from our recent trip to London.

Buckingham Palace on a sunny but cold morning!
We also had a day trip to Bath as part of our social activities programme. As well as being famous for its hot spring (the city is named after the Roman Baths there), this popular tourist destination is also full of beautiful Georgian buildings (from the late 18th and early 19th centuries). The famous writer Jane Austen lived in Bath during that period. You may have seen the recent film Pride & Prejudice or the 1995 classic Sense & Sensibility, which were based on her novels. Below are some photos from the trip.

A source of excitement among the staff this month has been our new colour photocopier. It can do lots of useful jobs like folding A3 paper, stapling and hole punching documents and is designed to save is lots of time preparing manuals and other materials. The best thing is that it connects to our network like any other printer so we can order print jobs from the office workstations. It gives a similar print quality to a colour laser printer but at a third of the price. Unfortunately for the delivery men, we needed it in the basement, and as you can see, getting it there was no easy job!

This month, the number of different nationalities at the school rose to 34. Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and South America all feature in our top 10 adult school nationalities.

At the end of February we also welcomed a large group of junior students from Italy, who stayed with us for a week. You can find out what they got up to on our Junior Centre website.

Finally, at the end of January, Southampton hosted a Chinese New Year Parade. You can read all about it and download photos of the parade by visiting Southampton City Council's website (click here). Happy Spring Festival everyone!
