Christophe Vincente, 25, was a student at the Lewis School from February to May 2005. After meeting a British girl at his brother’s wedding, he came to Southampton to see her again and they have been going out for nearly two years now. He quit his job in banking in France to make a go of it in the UK.

After he finished his course, he worked briefly as a driver down at the docks, which he describes as fun and easy, “easy money”, before taking a job as a Customer Adviser at HSBC, main branch Southampton, which is where we ran into him again. Not only can he help French speakers at HSBC, but he has been a useful and sympathetic contact for our students who need banking services.
Christophe has now been offered a job at HSBC in London, where he will make good use of his French in the International Banking Department.
Christophe’s view of England:
"The people are more open than in France, they accept everybody, I’ve never had or seen any problems. But there is too much patriotism – look at all the flags!”
Christophe’s view of travelling:
"Travelling is a good idea because you can pick up things you like and dislike about different cultures and you learn to have an open mind.”
Christophe was a great student and we wish him loads of success and happiness!
