April in England usually means seeing spring blossoms in the parks, and chocolate Easter eggs in the shops.

Lovely blossoms.

April can also be a rainy month, but this year we were pretty lucky with the weather, which was great news for our trip to Dorset. Nearly fifty went on the trip, and we had a fantastic time. Read all about it here. As you can see in the photos below, we also enjoyed some brilliant pub nights this month, and some five-aside football matches in the park.

We 'invaded' Southampton's pubs once again!

The spectacular Queen Mary 2, next to the QE2, on 'Cruise Sunday'.

The highlight of the month for many of Southampton's residents was 'Cruise Sunday', when five cruise ships were in port. Southampton is the south's main port for cruise liners, but to be able to see so many together is a rare pleasure. Indeed, it hadn't happened since the 1960's!
The five ships were Cunard's Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2 (pictured above), P&O's Oceana and Saga Cruises' Saga Rose and Saga Ruby.
It's been another great month in terms of our nationality mix, as we had an amazing 37 different nationalities. That could be a Lewis School record!

We also welcomed groups of junior students from France - see our junior website.
If you have any photos or stories to contribute to next month's news page, speak to Tom or email him at tom@lewis-school.co.uk. |
