A Walk in the New Forest - January 2005

Our first weekend excursion of the year was to the nearby New Forest.  It was an action-packed day, which included a ferry trip, a very old train, a pub, a cafe, muddy streams, a picturesque lake and various meetings with horses and ponies.

Click on the photos to see them full-size.

All aboard the ferry!

Hi Marcos!  After gettting off the ferry, we took the world's oldest pier train to the village of Hythe.

The New Forest is full of horses and ponies running free.  Many of them are quite friendly!

Walking through the forest.

Nothing's going to stop Ali!  (Or is that Tarzan?)

But there is another way.  Careful!

At the lake, with donkeys and swans.

Tada and a donkey meet eye to eye.

After all that walking, we were definitely ready for lunch at the pub.

Later, we went to a cafe for a traditional cream tea (scone, jam and clotted cream).  Delicious!
