August was a busy month at the school.
At the start of the
month, the school was inspected by the British Council. Accredited
language schools like the Lewis School are regularly inspected to
ensure quality standards in all aspects of the service we provide.
We will get a full report in November. I am pleased to say we were complimented on our 'excellent' website!

We are currently
creating a new look for our brochure, and as a result, Tom and
Julia were often seen wielding the school camera this month!
Many thanks to all those who volunteered to be in the photo
shoots, such as Philippe, Alba, Silvia, Juan, Raffa, Adolfo
and Giorgio pictured left, enjoying a picnic in the park
opposite the school. |
Our social programme took advantage of the (mostly!) sunny weather
with barbecue parties on our patios, excursions to London,
Brighton and Oxford, and another great day windsurfing and
canoeing amongst this month's activities. Meanwhile, the nation
has been gripped by a thrilling series of cricket matches between
England and the world's current number one team, Australia. This
has led to a Lewis School first: students being interested in
cricket and even starting to understand the rules!

August was also the end of the Junior Centre, so it was time to
say goodbye to Peter, Esther and the Junior team, and of course to
all our Junior students, several of whom were here for their
second or third summer with us. We will be welcoming some out of
season Junior groups in September.
Another very important farewell this month was to Andrew and Jung
