Oxford Trip - Sat 17 July 2004
|
Oxford - 'the city of dreaming
spires.' The University of Oxford is made up of more than 35
colleges, and we visited several. Some of them are over 700
years old.
Thank you for your photos, Piotr
and Elchin!
Did you know? Oxford
has educated 25 British Prime Ministers, including Tony Blair, and the
former President of the United States, Bill Clinton.

The Bodleian Library, founded in 1598.
This is the largest academic library in the world.

|
It has 6 million books and 1 million
maps. Most of them are kept underground in tunnels that total 130km
in length!.

What good luck! We saw some
graduates in their traditional gowns, ready for their graduation ceremony.
