Lewis School Diary - March 2009

Students at the Lewis School may have been surprised to see all the teachers dressed in red on Friday 13 March. This was for the national charity event 'Red Nose Day' that takes place every two years and is organised by the charity Comic Relief.

To raise money, we invented some school rules and made a donation every time we broke a rule! In total, students and staff raised £166.03 which will go to help poor and disadvantaged people in developing countries and the UK. See www.comicrelief.com for more information. Thank you for your generosity!

March was a busy month for our Marketing Team. Giovanni Rottura, Tony Lucas and Tom Bradbury, together with our partners in Greece, took part in the International Publishers Exhibitions in Athens and Thessaloniki. Tony also went on marketing visits to Portugal and Brazil; and Richard, Tony, Tom and Giovanni delivered their fifth teaching methodology conference, this time in Katowice, Poland.

Following a successful inspection by the UK Border Agency, the Lewis School has been granted Sponsor status (Tier 4) and given an A rating. This means that we will be able to issue sponsorship letters for visas under the new Points Based System which comes into effect in April. From now on, students who need a student visa for 6 months or more will only be able to enrol with educational institutions that have been granted Sponsor status. Our listing on the register can be found here on the UKBA website.

Social activities in March included horse riding, a trip to Brighton and the first barbecue party of the year! Click below to see more photos.
