The new season began on 8 October with our first ever event in Romania, in collaboration with our local partners Mirunette International Education.

Over 120 teachers attended the conference and we were delighted to receive unanimously positive feedback!

The event was entitled 'A Fresh Approach: Teaching Beyond the Book', and focuses on teaching using a wider range of materials rather than merely coursebooks, this approach being central to our ethos at the Lewis School. The speakers were Richard Hamilton, Tom Bradbury and Giovanni Rottura.

The presentations began with Richard Hamilton exploring the advantages and disadvantages of teaching 'beyond the book'. Richard and Tom then showcased a large number of practical ideas for classroom use, in a presentation called 'Making the Most of Materials'. The final presentation, by Tom Bradbury, explored a wide range of useful (and free!) Internet resources for teachers and learners of English, many of which are featured on his forthcoming web directory, TeachYa.com.

We would like to express our thanks to all the teachers who took part - we hope you will stay in touch!
