ITC Pescara Group from Italy - Sept / Oct 04

From one coastal city to another - the ITC Pescara group came for a two-week stay at the Lewis School, with a programme of lessons in the morning, activities in the afternoon/evening and full-day excursions at the weekend.

Week 1

Sunday:  Esther went to meet the group at the airport and then we took a private coach to Southampton, where everyone was introduced to their host families.

Monday: After the placement test, Richard took everyone on a tour around Southampton's historical city centre .

It's a cold morning, but Richard is surrounded by warm Italians!

Tuesday:  After a hard morning's lessons, we had a chance to relax with a free afternoon and a bowling trip in the evening.  Well done to Carlo, the bowling champion!

Wednesday: For our afternoon excursion we went to the beautiful city of Winchester, which is only a few miles from Southampton and was the capital before London.  Today, it is well-known for its picturesque cathedral and for King Arthur's Round Table, which is displayed in the Great Hall.

Thursday:  Keeping fit with an afternoon of swimming.

Friday:  The end of the first week's lessons, and a barbecue party to celebrate, and a chance to mingle with students from other nationalities.

Saturday:  A day trip to Bath, one of England's most attractive cities.  Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage site and gets its name from the Roman baths in the centre of the town.  Bath is also full of beautiful 18th and 19th century buildings, and was the home of the famous writer Jane Austen.
