ITC Capriotti Group from Italy - Aug / Sept 04

Week 1

Our ITC Capritotti group from Italy spent a fortnight with us for a programme of lessons and activities.

Here's what happened during the first of their two weeks:

The Tudor Merchant's Hall and Westgate.

Sunday: Esther met the group at Gatwick Airport and we travelled to Southampton by private.  When we arrived, everyone met their host families.

Monday: Everyone took the  placement test to find their level, and then met their teachers.  After that, we went for a guided tour of the city, and did the Southampton 'Walk the Walls'.

Tuesday:  Swimming at The Quays in Southampton.  This was no ordinary swimming trip.  We bumped into Peter Waterfield, who won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.  We even saw his medal, which he won in the Synchronised 10m diving event.  Southampton-born Waterfield had just returned from Athens to receive a hero's welcome from the city... and from Guido, who had his photograph taken with him!

Wednesday: After lessons, we went on a trip to the picturesque town of Winchester  and visited the cathedral and the Great Hall, where we saw King Arthur's Round Table.

Thursday: Class project about Oxford, ready for our trip on Saturday.

Friday: We had a barbecue party on the school's patio.  This was a great chance to make friends practise English with students of other nationalities.

Below are some of the evening's photos.
